Robert Johnson is an American whose mother is of Swedish descent.  When his father dies, Robert's brought up by his uncle Jesse, who owns a one-plane, crop-dusting service.

But WW-II is heating up in 1938 and Robert is burning to go, though America is still two years away from Pearl Harbor and entrance into the war.
